CHAIRMAN

Shri S Muthukumar, born in a peasant family in Tipanampatti village in Thirunelveli district. He completed his primary education in Tipanampatti. He has completed his Elementary Education in 1944 in RCC Higher Elementary School, Vaikalipatty, Ambasamutram Taluk. He has donehis high school studies in West Thirunelveli High School. He completed his intermediate and BA., Mathematics in St. Johns college, Palaliankottai. He is one of the three graduates in his village.

In the year 1952, he started his career as a temporary lower division clerk in the Commercial Tax Department, Tenkasi. On 6th February 1953 he was appointed as a clerk by the Tamil Nadu Service Commission in the Revenue Department, Sriperumbattur. Then he was recruited as Social Education Organizer in the Rural Development Department, Valliyur from 17th September 1956.

He got the promotion as Block Development Officer cum Panjayat Union Commissioner, Salem districtin August 1962. In March 1964 he was transferred to Acharapakkam, Kancheepuram district in the same position.

After that he was specially recruited by Khadi Board as District Khadi and Village Industries Officer in Foreign Service Terms. He served in Tirunelveli and Koilpatti areas. He was appointed as special officer for translation in Tamil and also worked as Divisional Development Officer and as Personal Assistant to Collector in various places in and around Chennai.

He worked as the Deputy Director and the Joint Director and also are the Divisional Development Officer in the Rural Development for about 12 yearstill hisretirement of service on 30th June 1987.

Serving in various Departments,he made up his mind that the main purpose of his life is to serve the downtrodden and the poor. He started the real estate business by the name S M Kumar Enterprises with the capital of Rs.2.5 lakhs and sold 1000 plots in and around Ponneri and Saidapet Taluk to the benefit of middle class.

An extent of five acres and ninety cents in S.No.68/1A and 68/1B of Ramapuram is left unutilized and developed by filling up and leveling the areas and got the approval of CMDA in lay out No.66/1993 and 66/95. The habitation is classified as Amman Nagar well provided with infrastructure needs of roads, electricity and drinking water facilities. Amrita Vidyalayam CBSE, Dr.Vimala Convent Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Sri VimalaVidyalaya are functioning with about 5000 children.
